R. Kavin of XI A1 got selected in TNCA State Team for the second consecutive year. He is the Captain of TNCA under 16. He has played a lot of national level matches and has been appreciated for the same.

National Level Chess Championship 2011 was conducted by DAV Public School Ballabhgarh under 19 category between 15th November and 18th November 2011. M. Vimal Raj of XII A2 and B. Jeyassri of XI A5 emerged winners in the competition.

R. NIVEDITHA VARMAN of XII A1 participated in the Indian International Regatta, 2011 held in Chennai in 29ev class of boat.

Kokino’s 28th National Karate Tournament 2011 was held at Chennai. Santhoshi Harish of XI A won the Gold in the individual Kata, Gold in Team Kata and Bronze in Kumite.

Riya Sajan of class XI won runner-up in singles event (Under- 19 category) in the Table Tennis Tournament conducted by Chennai Divisional Athletic Association at Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium in chennai, on 28th Nov, 2011. R. Vishal of XII participated in Shotput event (Under-19 category).

S. Shiksha Jain of class V won the 2nd prize in 300 meters rink race and 1000 meters road race, and 3rd prize in 1000 meters rink race in the State-level roller skating competition conducted by Tamil Nadu Roller Skating Federation at Nehru Indoor Stadium in chennai on 20th Nov, 2011. She will be participating in the National-level competition to be conducted by All India Roller Skating Federation in Bangalore in January 2012.

Archery inter district competition was conducted on 13.11.2011 at Boys school ground, Adhur Main Road, Ammapettai, Salem. 15 students from classes IIIto VIII of our school participated in this competition.

A letter Writing Competition organized by India Post in association with British Council at Maharishi Vidya Mandir Campus on 10 October, 2011 (Saturday). 38 Schools Participated in the Competition. Letter to be written to a Penpal in UK, describing about any festival, which is very famous in India. Around 525 students participated. Our student ANUSHA MURALI of std X won the 3rd place. Chief librarian – British Council & PMG – CCG distributed the prizes on 12/11/11.

International Spelling Bee finalist Ms. Bharagavi and Ms. Sarojini Devi of class X share their experience in their journey. Who would have ever thought, students having a mere 1000 words on an average in their possession in the vocabulary bank could make it to the grand finale of spelling bee activity. It was not easy and was possible only with lots of training and days of practice. The four levels (School – Inter school – State – National levels) have thoroughly broadened our approach towards the language and its subtle manners. Participation itself a memorable and challenging one in these higher levels. We are very excited to participate in the grand finale to be held at Abudabhi on 6th & 7th Jan, 2012. We would sincerely thank Senior Principal for giving us this opportunity to explore our talents.

The team of S. Shanmathi and Bharathi Sairam of class X, Keerthi S. Arasu and M. Swetha of class IX secured 3rd place in the CBSE National-Level Table-Tennis tournament conducted by Sunbeam School in Lahartara, Madhya Pradesh between 14th October, 2011 and 18th October, 2011. Teams from 220 schools across the country participated in the competition.

Shiksha Jain of class V secured 2nd prize in rink I and II, and road race (500 meters) events in the district-level inter-school Roller Skating competition conducted by Chennai District Roller Skating Association at Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium in Chennai between 1st October,2011 and 3rd October, 2011. Students from 15 schools participated in the competition.

WEST CHENNAI SAHODAYA CLUSTER SCHOOLS, CHENNAI awarded Mrs.Chithra Ramesh Head of Hindi Department , MVM as the best Teacher for the academic year 2011- 2012. This function was hosted by Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Anna Nagar on 14.09.2011. Dr. Tangam Meganathan, M.phil, Ph.d, Chairperson of Rajalakshmi Engineering College distributed the award.

Deepa-PRT are honoured by Rotary Club of North Madras for their commendable performance in the field of teaching in Maharishi Vidya Mandir Senior Secondary School.

The under-19 girls team of Maharishi Vidya Mandir, Chetpet secured runners-up place in the inter-school Throwball Tournament conducted by Vidyodaya School, T.Nagar on 2 Sept, 2011. The scores were 17-21, 15-21 in the final. Teams from 8 schools participated in the tournament.

The following Std. VII Students of Maharishi Vidya Mandir, Chetpet won prizes in the inter-school karate competition conducted by Okinawan Goju-Ryu ShoreiKan Karate Do Federation (T. Nagar) in J. J. Basketball Indoor Stadium, Kilpauk on 10 September, 2011. G. Sakthivel (1st prize in kumite and 2nd in individual kata – 40 kg. category). K. Sanjeevi (1st in individual kata and 2nd in kumite), P. Shriram (3rd prize in kumite).
The team of P. Shriram, R. Neeraj Kumar and C. R. Aaditya secured 3rd place in team kata event ( 35 k g . category). Students from 55 schools participated in the competition.

South Zone CBSE Cluster V Table Tennis 2011- 2012 was organized by Padma Seshadri Bala Bhavan, Chennai. Our School Students won First place and qualified for the National (Final) to be played in Varanasi between October 14 and 18. The Team comprises of M. Swetha IXD, S. Shanmathi XD, Keerthi. S. Arasu IXC and Bharathi Sairam XB. S. Shanmathi of XD won individual First position under 16(girls).

V. Yashwanth of class V was presented the overall individual championship for winning the 1st prize in 25 meters butterfly and 2nd prize in 25 meters freestyle and 25 meters breaststroke (under-10 category) in the inter-school swimming competition conducted by RMK Group of Schools (Kavarappettai) on 28 August, 2011. Students from 50 schools participated in the competition.

K. Subha, Physical Education Teacher of Maharishi Vidya Mandir, Chetpet was presented the ‘Best Player of the Tournament Award’ in the inter-school throwball tournament for teachers conducted by SBOA Junior College, Anna Nagar on 27th August, 2011. The school team in a semi-final to Velammal School, Panchetti. Sukanya Ravi, Science Teacher won the 3rd prize for her paper presentation, on ‘VALUE BASED EDUCATION – NEED OF THE HOUR’, conducted by SBOA Junior College, Anna Nagar.

GYMNASTICS State level competition was conducted at Tmt. Lakshmi Logananthan Matriculation School by Tamilnadu Aesthetic group Gymnastics Association on 27.8.2011. 30 students from Std. II to VIII participated in various categories. R. Reshwin Ganesh and Y.Anjana Kumar of class III E won the first and second Prize in under 8 category. Saahil .N. Chowatia of Class VI B, T. Janardhan of VI F and Sanjay .P. Nair of Class VII C won the first , Second and third prize in under 12 category. 2o students won consolidation prize.

Picture Composition Competition 2011 – 2012 for Mighty Primary was conducted on 19th August, 2011 by our school. The results were declared on 02-09-2011. Our Headmaster Shri. C. Ramalingam, Vice Principal Mrs. G. Vijaylakshmi and Primary Headmistress Mrs. Maheswari consented to give away the prizes to 51 Students. Indeed it was a great day for all the prize winners.

The Maharishi Vidya Mandir, Chetpet Volleyball team won the city level inter-school velloyball tournament conducted by K.B.J Gurukulam Mat. Hr. School on 6th August, 2011. They won the coveted cup by defeating the other 20 teams from the city schools. They met the host team in the finals and won the match in straight sets with a score of 25-23, 25-20. Vasantha kumar of class XI was judged as the best player of the tournament. The Senior Principal, Shri S. Namasivayam, the Head Mistress, Mrs. PreethiNarayanan along with the Physical Education department felicitated the victorious team.
